R22 Refrigerant retrofit
There are a number of alternative stratagies for coping with the phase out of R22 & compliance with the F Gas regulations with VRF systems.
Site survey
In the first instance a site survey can be carried out to identify all the systems & the refrigerant quantities. Further information regarding system operation, age & compressor run hrs are recorded for the report.
A detailed report is provided including suggestions for alternative stratagies.
The cost for the site survey & report depends on the site location & number of systems but for a guide £300 to £500 for up to 10 systems.
Retrofit works
1/ This normally involves the retrofit of R407c or R422d together will oil replacement & provision for later oil change operations.
2/ An oil test is carried out to identify contamination such as acid. If acid is pressent then system clean up procedures are carried out with the retrofit.
3/ In some cases service valves & tube flange connections are also replaced to prevent leaks.
4/ The system is fully pressure tested & evacuated before regrigerant charging using best pracice procedures.
5/ The system is fully tested & left fully operational.
6/ Follow up siste visits for oil change operations & health check monitor can be carried out as required.
Costs depend on many factors & customer requirments but end users will need to budget between £1000 to £2000 per VRF system for the full retrofit procedure.
